Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Case Manager Supervisor

The Case Manager Supervisor ensures that case managers deliver services to clients consistent with the professional standards of the Case Management Model, the requirements of funding contracts and the policies and procedures and Shared Values of Volunteers of America-Greater New York.

The Schwartz Assessment Shelter is a shelter for men operating 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Clients are referred to the program by the New York City Department of Homeless Services. To learn more about the program, copy and paste this link into a browser https://www.voa-gny.org/housing

Location: Wards Island, NY 10035

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associates Degree or 60 college credits courses in Human Services field with 2 year of relevant shelter experience, or satisfactory combination of education and experience.
  • The position also requires a demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication, including basic computer skills.


Case Manager Supervisor Principal Responsibilities:



  1. Supervise case managers, interns and other staff as assigned.
  2. Coordinate with the case management resource developer and senior management to develop program and community resources and provide training and reference materials for case management staff. Manage sharing sessions for peer skill development and resource sharing.
  3. Provide quality case management services, protect integrity of adopted models, use available resources efficiently and achieve service outcome goals.
  4. Manage program record keeping, data collection and evaluation to provide for continuous improvement of case management services.
  5. Manage a client caseload as assigned.
  6. Provide substance abuse counseling, groups, referrals and follow up services as needed.
