Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FPA) Manager for our Finance Department in our Atlanta office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. The FP&A Manager is responsible for leading the analysis of expense results and managing the enterprise budgeting process. This position will partner with leaders to understand their financial performance and utilize forecasting to improve outcomes. As we continue to focus on technology solutions, this role will play a key role in driving relevant tool adoption, utilization, and automation. The FP&A Manager will also be involved in the selection and implementation of a new budget and financial reporting tool. This role is directly responsible for management of the annual budget process in partnership with budget leaders and finance leadership and monthly actual to budget variance analysis and reporting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Partner with Finance Systems, IT and our software vendors for budgeting and financial reporting to ensure that we maximize our investment in technology.



  • Seek solutions to improve functionality, user experience and effectiveness of budget and reporting tools.
  • Implement new tools to improve performance and value to the Firm.



Manage the creation of the annual budget through close partnership with budget owners, Finance, Finance Systems and other teams and related customer service to the firm.



  • Create overall budget process and timeline for the annual budget.
  • Manage relationships with budget owners for timely submission of annual budgets and support.
  • Foster open communication with business areas on questions, process improvements and the overall timeline to ensure a smooth process that meets firm deadlines.
  • Manage budget review meetings in partnership with the CFO, Director of Finance, and other leaders to ensure budget is reviewed and approved timely.
  • Monitor and improve overall department support level of the budget process through solicitation of feedback and process improvements.



Train department owners and their team members on how to use our budget tools, the budget process, deadlines, and expectations around monthly variance analysis.



  • Answer questions and solicit ideas and feedback to help contribute to an efficient process.



Responsible for quality controls:



  • Monitor and reconcile budget information in financial tools, including AFS and SpendConnect
  • Manage initial load of budget information into tools in coordination with the Finance Systems team.
  • Coordinate with budget owners on access rights to the budget and actual information in Spend Connect and AFS.



Responsible for monthly actual to budget variance analysis and reporting to keep leadership up to date on how the firm is performing from an actual to budget perspective.



  • Analyze results, perform independent research, and coordinate Q&A with budget owners for explanations.
  • Prepare forecasts during the year to evaluate a best estimate of expected budget performance.



Implement and execute internal controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of budget, financial reporting of actual to budget information and other information related to the budget.

Develop and implement process improvements to improve efficiency, timeliness, accuracy and user experience of our budget process and tools.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

Required:



  • Accounting or Finance related college degree
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Master of Business Administration


  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at a comparable level.
  • Minimum of 2 years in personnel management or leading an enterprise process.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel background, including V-lookup, pivot tables, etc.
  • Ability to lead an enterprise process and operate well under pressure.
  • Ability to integrate departmental needs with the needs of the other departments and the needs of the firm.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple work tasks with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and partner to ensure the smooth operation of the enterprise budget process.
  • Ability to analyze, assess possible problems, prioritize concerns, and make decisions.
  • Ability to motivate and empower others toward success.
  • Full awareness of and willingness to abide by firm's policies, in particular those regarding confidentiality of financial information and securities trading.
  • Ability to adapt schedule to changing workload requirements.
  • Ability to successfully interface with partners, associates, clients, vendors, directors, manager, and support staff.
  • Skills to coordinate various resources to help others meet their objectives.
  • Acts as a role model in professionalism and helping others solve complex problems.


  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.


Preferred:



  • Law firm experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of 3E or Elite financial system preferred.


This is a full-time, regular position with a multi-faceted health benefit package including medical, dental, and vision. The firm also offers life insurance, short term disability plans and retirement plans in addition to holidays and paid time off. The firm offers hybrid work schedules combining in office work days as well as remote work days. The pay range for this position in Atlanta only is $109,300 to $163,900 annually.
