Harmony Biosciences is recruiting for a Scientific Director, Medical Affairs in our Plymouth Meeting, PA location. In this role you will accountable for advancing Harmony's scientific leadership in rare neurological diseases by providing strategic and operational input into core Medical Affairs activities: publications, insights gathering, investigator sponsored studies, medical education grants, scientific training and other educational initiatives. As a key member of the Medical Affairs team, this individual will also work with commercial teams to provide medical input into core brand strategies. The MA Scientific Director will collaborate with other internal stakeholders including Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Using extensive scientific knowledge, review abstracts, publications, medical information letters, internal/external educational materials, and other medical documents as needed
  • Contribute to and execute on an integrated medical affairs plan in at least one of the Harmony rare neurological franchises
  • Develop and implement scientific training plans and medical content for internal and external use
  • Serve as a medical reviewer on the Promotional Review Committee (PRC)
  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with external medical experts and healthcare practitioners to engage in scientific exchange in support of Harmony commercial assets and Medical Affairs strategy
  • Plan and execute Medical Affairs Advisory Boards as needed
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g.: Commercial, Sales Training, Market Access, Patient & Provider Advocacy) as a subject matter expert
  • Develop Scientific Insights Questions (SIQs) for use by the Field Medical teams
  • Create and maintain scientific platform(s)
  • Evaluate Investigator Sponsored Studies concepts & protocols to ensure scientific rigor and alignment with Medical Affairs strategy
  • Work closely with Franchise Medical Director(s) on development and review of scientific abstracts and presentations of data at national and international scientific conferences
  • Lead activities related to presentation of data from Harmony-sponsored trials at national and international congresses
  • Provide input into Harmony Publications plans; develop and review publications
  • Represent Harmony Medical Affairs at external engagements (e.g. congresses, industry roundtables, etc)

Qualifications:

  • Advanced scientific degree required, Master, PharmD or PhD.
  • 5+ years Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience required, Experience in neurology and / or rare diseases strongly preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; solid publication record
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and timelines simultaneously
  • Solid teamwork, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Global and Domestic travel is estimated to be 20% of the time for this position; Valid US passport or ability to obtain is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close vision.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computers, tablets, and cell phone.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods.
