JMU offers several perks to all employees including: General Information: The College of Business (CoB) Advising and Support Center (ASC) seeks a part-time academic advisor. The successful candidate will be part of a professional and student team supporting student success by providing academic advice to 4,500 business majors. The ASC encourages student growth by providing quality advice and programming designed to empower students in making informed decisions, leading to the achievement of academic and professional goals. Duties and Responsibilities: Use professional judgement to advise students on degree requirements and college progression standards; Communicate regularly with constituents; Assist students in developing academic plans; Coach students on academic success strategies; Monitor students' progression; Participate in staff development activities; Maintain records and confidentiality; Serve as an accessible and knowledgeable resource to students. Qualifications: -Excellent oral, written and listening communication skills. Conditions of Employment: Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
