Job Summary: The Charge Nurse-Angio Specialty, serves in Angio Interventional Radiology and functions in a Magnet Recognized large tertiary academic medical center with level one trauma designation, ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) receiving center designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center accreditation. Works collaboratively with the manager and director to provide direct patient care and oversee day-to-day clinical operations of a team of licensed and unlicensed staff during assigned shift based on the needs of the patient population served, established professional practice model (Duffy's Quality-Caring Model), applicable regulatory standards and requirements, and approved clinical practice standards, policies and procedures. Utilizes skilled discretion and independent judgment to prioritize, coordinate, and make patient care assignments based on scheduled patient procedures, staff competency, patient acuity and productivity standards. Assigns and re-assigns staff and workloads to provide uninterrupted, cost effective quality patient care and patient flow with optimum productivity. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of invasive interventional procedures for stable and unstable inpatients and outpatients of all ages. Performs pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure duties in accordance with established policies and procedures and professional practice guidelines. Consistently demonstrates expert level of clinical practice. Performs the nursing process independently in a dynamic environment and serves as a role model in multidisciplinary age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care delivery methods, problem solving, documentation and communication. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills. Embraces new knowledge, innovations and improvements in practice to enhance the patient experience and clinical outcomes. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Meets qualifications, licensure, certifications and competencies as defined in the department-specific Plan for Providing Care. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Works at other sites licensed under Loma Linda University Medical Center as requested. Performs other duties as needed. |
