Job Title: Senior Advanced Systems Engineer - eCCM Systems Engineer
Program: SDA GMI (Space Development Agency - Ground Mission Integration)

Job Description

As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer - eCCM Systems Engineer supporting the SDA GMI program, you will be an integral member of a cross-functional, mission-focused team responsible for the design, development, integration, and deployment of a cutting-edge ground operational system supporting national defense satellite communications.

You will provide technical leadership and systems engineering expertise across the entire system development life cycle, including requirements definition, architecture, design, implementation, integration, verification, and transition to operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to the end-to-end systems engineering process for enterprise Configuration and Change Management (eCCM) across the SDA GMI ground system.

  • Define and manage system and subsystem requirements, interfaces, and architectures.

  • Develop and maintain configuration management systems for data centers and mission-critical infrastructure.

  • Coordinate software configuration tracking and deployment across multiple operational environments.

  • Manage and maintain IT equipment configuration databases and ensure accuracy of software baselines.

  • Collaborate with network and IT operations teams to ensure version control and deployment planning.

  • Interface with multiple software suppliers to track and align version update schedules.

  • Support ground-to-satellite communications architecture and integration efforts.

  • Facilitate design reviews, working groups, and technical interchange meetings.

  • Contribute to risk management, trade studies, and technical baseline control.

Preferred Skills & Experience

We encourage you to apply if you have any of the following:

  • Satellite communications knowledge

  • Ground-to-satellite communication architecture experience

  • Ground operations or satellite command and control system experience

  • Configuration Management leadership in data center environments

  • ITSM and CMDB (Configuration Management Database) implementation experience

  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow

  • Knowledge of software version tracking, release cycles, and deployment pipelines

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Science, Engineering, or Mathematics

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the following areas:

    • Designing and implementing Configuration Management systems for Data Centers

    • Leading teams responsible for network configuration management and IT service management

    • Managing and maintaining IT equipment configuration management databases (CMDBs)

    • Tracking and deploying software updates across enterprise-level environments

    • Using IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, such as ServiceNow

    • Collaborating with multiple software suppliers to manage and track version update cycles

    • Applying systems engineering best practices across the full life cycle (requirements, design, integration, verification, etc.)

    • Practicing effective negotiation techniques with internal and external stakeholders

    • Supporting or leading ground operations for satellite or mission-critical systems
