Overview:

UMD Dining Services provides diverse and high-quality dining options across campus, including Superior Dining, our all-you-care-to-eat residential dining center, and a Food Court with five unique concepts-Subs & Wraps, Burgers, Pizza, Burritos, and Grab & Go. We also operate Northern Shores Coffee Shop, two dining kiosks, and a full-service restaurant, along with catering services for campus events. Dining Services focuses on providing diverse food options, sustainability efforts, and quality service to the campus community.

This is a lead worker position with UMD Dining Services. Must be capable of operating a wide variety of equipment that produces both hot and cold food following appropriate food safety and sanitation standards, organizing a work group to meet production standards and time lines. This position provides a high level of customer service.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare and serve food, following established food handling procedures
  • Operate and clean various kitchen equipment, including dish machines and pulpers
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work areas
  • Dishwashing
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of team members including students
  • Communicate and inform the supervisor of operational issues
  • Lead worker responsibilities: Handle customer service, orient and train team members, assign tasks in the area of responsibility

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years relevant experience or education in large food operations or quantity food production
  • Ability to accurately perform recipe conversion calculations
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the assignment

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in verbal communication, written communication and accurate record keeping
  • Proficient at multitasking while organizing, planning and prioritizing work
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $21.90 - $24.49; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
