Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Moonlighter, Salem Hospital
Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, is seeking experienced OB/GYN physicians to provide moonlighting coverage as part of our dedicated Hospitalist team. The OB/GYN Hospitalist plays a vital role in ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality care for obstetric and gynecologic patients during evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage obstetric patients admitted to the Salem Hospital Birthplace or presenting for evaluation. Perform and assist with normal deliveries and operative deliveries (e.g., vacuum-assisted, cesarean sections). Evaluate, admit (as needed), and manage patients presenting for antenatal concerns. Assist in cesarean sections and gynecologic surgeries when available. Perform newborn circumcisions, as appropriate. Evaluate postpartum patients as needed and upon request from nursing staff. Respond to OB/GYN consults from the Emergency Department or inpatient units. Provide operative care for gynecologic emergencies such as ectopic pregnancies, incomplete spontaneous abortions, and ovarian torsion. Manage gynecology patients admitted overnight for surgery or acute concerns, as appropriate. Triage patient-related phone calls during assigned shifts. Provide thorough and timely sign-out communication to incoming providers at the end of each shift. Deliver safe and appropriate care to OB/GYN patients within the scope of practice and hospital guidelines. Complete timely and accurate documentation in the medical record for all patient encounters. Supervise and collaborate with non-physician clinical staff (e.g., nurses, nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, family medicine physicians) when appropriate. Participate in departmental, hospital, or practice meetings as requested by leadership. Comply with hospital and departmental quality requirements, including OPPE and assigned learning modules.
Qualifications:
MD or DO degree and Board Certified/Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology Active Massachusetts medical license or eligibility to obtain Prior experience in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology care preferred Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
