External Investing Group (XIG)

XIG provides clients with investment and advisory solutions, across leading hedge fund managers, private credit funds, private equity funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies, fixed income strategies and ESG (impact) strategies across all asset classes. XIG manages globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios and a range of advisory services. Our investors access opportunities through new fund commitments, fund-of-fund investments, strategic partnerships, co-investments, secondary-market investments and seed-capital investments. With over 400 professionals across 13 offices around the world, XIG provides manager diligence, portfolio construction, risk management and liquidity solutions to investors, drawing on Goldman Sachs' market insights and risk management expertise. We extend these global capabilities to the world's leading sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, governments, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, high-net-worth individuals and family offices, for which we invest or advise on over $400 billion of alternative investments, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies. XIG Imprint

XIG Imprint is the dedicated impact investment vertical in XIG focused on manager selection and co-investments across public and private markets including private equity, real assets, and private credit. Imprint applies a thesis-driven investment approach grounded in primary market research across climate transition and inclusive growth themes. Imprint manages $9 billion in assets under supervision and has a dedicated team of 12 investment professionals across three offices. Imprint was founded in 2008 and acquired by Goldman Sachs in 2015, as part of the firm's commitment to ESG and impact investing.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Principal Responsibilities:



  • Conduct sourcing and due diligence of impact private equity funds across buyout, growth, and venture for consideration as part of fund of funds, separate account mandates and advisory mandates
  • Build and maintain relationships with key market players across the impact private markets ecosystem
  • Present investment opportunities to the Investment Committee through written and oral presentations highlighting investment and impact analysis
  • Coordinate the execution of investments, including working closely with internal (e.g., internal counsel) and external parties (e.g., private equity managers)
  • Monitor the performance and risk profile of existing investments
  • Perform industry research to support sourcing, diligence, and investment monitoring
  • Provide portfolio updates and present investment views to XIG clients



Experience & Skills:



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in private markets manager selection, and 10 years of experience in an investment role
  • Experience across a range of private equity strategies (e.g., venture, growth, and buyout) is preferred
  • Outstanding numerical and analytical skills for the purpose of assessing investment opportunities
  • Strong presentation, communication, and writing skills enabling the candidate to make robust recommendations to the Investment Committee
  • Excellent time, people, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team
  • Demonstrated interest in impact investing
