Position Summary

The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: coordination of instructional programs and/or teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.
The assignment may include instructing classes, which could result in an Coordinator/Instructional split assignment.
Position Salary Information: Initial maximum salary placement is based on academic degree, upper/graduate level units earned, and/or related professional occupational experience per the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers Contract (the initial maximum placement is Class V, Step 8). Typical Duties
-
Coordinator duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Associate Dean/Academy Director in the development, evaluation, and implementation of all Center programs and courses.
- Assisting the Associate Dean/Academy Director in the development, evaluation, and implementation of courses certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and Standards and Training for Corrections (STC).
- Preparing and submitting courses for certification/re-certification by POST and/or STC.
- Creating, updating, and submitting course information and scheduling within POST's Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and/or STC's Learning Gateway.
- Orienting new instructors to their assignments and obligations.
- Reviewing, developing, revising, and improving curricula.
- Assisting the Associate Dean in the recruitment, screening, selecting, and reviewing of suitable instructors for the Center.
- Preparing, reviewing, and tracking testing procedures for all students.
- Conducting program/course evaluations and providing the Associate Dean and certifying agencies with information on instructor/student performance ratings.
- Preparing, reviewing, and tracking instructor and program FTEs, and creating and tracking course budgets.
- Recruiting qualified instructors for certified courses.
Teaching responsibilities, if assigned:
- Assisting with Program Review.
- Assisting with curriculum and articulation projects.
- Creating CTE and Perkins reports.
- Participating in Peer Review Teams.
- Ensuring year-round coverage at the Center, as permitted under the LRCFT contract.
The SRPSTC Coordinator is also responsible for:
- Coordinating the instruction and management of the POST PC 832 Program and instructional system.
- Planning, organizing, scheduling, and overseeing of the American River College PC 832 Program and other POST and STC courses at multiple facilities.
- Stressing ethics and professionalism through their conduct in all aspects of the training program. Supporting official organizational values and goals.
- Ensuring compliance with the highest ethical standards exemplified by the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics, Faculty/Staff and Student Codes of Conduct.
- Integrating and sequencing of instruction.
- Assuring the effective use and understanding of instructional methods, technology, testing and remediation.
- Developing staff recommendations
- Assigning, coordination of, and evaluating faculty.
- Managing program training inventory and expenditures.
- Managing the oversight of student separation/dismissal procedures with the Associate Dean/Academy Director. Meeting periodically with the Associate Dean to actively participate in the instructor evaluation process.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and professional training environment.
- Attending POST and/or STC-required workshops associated with course management, administration, and oversight.
- Developing a written student performance appraisal system that provides feedback to the student in their mastery of the competencies.
- Liaising with regulatory agencies, colleges within the Los Rios Community College District, and other public safety training organizations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
The Sacramento Regional Public Safety Training Center (SRPSTC) courses are not part of the Administration of Justice (ADMJ) program; they are designated as Public Safety Training courses.

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Have a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in the subject matter area to be taught; OR have an associate's degree and six years of professional experience in the subject matter area to be taught; OR the equivalent. * All degrees must be from an accredited institution, completed by time of hire.
- Have 2 years peace officer first-level supervisory experience (most commonly the rank of sergeant).
- Candidates must possess a POST Supervisor or STC Supervisor certificate, and meet the required training, education, or college degree with law enforcement experience. For the POST Supervisory Certificate, applicants must have at least 60 semester units, two years of supervisory experience, and completion of the POST Supervisory Course.
