The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a Buyer (Bioprocessing) to become an integral member of our team.

The Buyer will be accountable for timely resolution of supply chain issues and executing purchase orders to meet replenishment plans as well as customer demand variations to maximize customer service. They also nurture working relationships with vendors to ensure superb delivery performance and strong cost containment both in procurement and logistics.

This role will be a full-time position based out of our Devens, MA or Morrisville, NC offices.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Purchase to support stocking strategies and inventory policies and maintain a strategic inventory position to support customer needs.
  • Analyze historical demand pattern alongside commercial inputs gathered through S&OP processes to generate accurate demand forecasts for all stocking items.
  • Execute replenishment plan by placing economical purchase orders based on lead time, discount schedules, freight rates.
  • Manage vendor relationship and resolve issues related to delivery performance, price variances, minimums, and logistics issues. Provide regular feedback on critical vendors to ensure proactive compliance to committed performance.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure days of supply goals are met; actively reduce slow, excess, and obsolete inventory.
  • Maintain critical supply chain data to support forecasting, customer communication and product planning throughout the organization.
  • Reconcile invoices as required.
  • Review forecast and master data to close supply gaps before they impact customers.
  • Analyze and evaluate inventory and delivery problems; recommend solutions as appropriate.
  • Communicate as needed with manufacturing, customer service, quality, marketing, sourcing and operations departments regarding product availability and delivery schedules.
  • Improve the responsiveness of the operation through managing lead times and collaborating with stakeholders to improve the supply chain.
  • Establish and deploy best practices to ensure customer and business expectations are met for all inventory planning and business strategies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years in a supply chain related field.
  • Experience utilizing ERP system for planning/procurement/operations (Experience with Epicor preferred).
  • Experience in a regulated environment such as cGMP, ISO, or FDA preferred.
  • Additional Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibit exemplary negotiating, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Adaptable to up and coming procurement experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Excellent with multi-tasking, follow-up and execution of assignments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and manage/multiple SKUs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management and prioritization skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Detail oriented, solution focused.
  • Understand the financial impact of variances, purchase prices and inventory investment.
  • Excellent computer skills: ability to learn new systems quickly and maneuver the internet and internal intranet sites with ease
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
