Senior Accountant

Staffmark is seeking a Project Accountant to join the team of a respected commercial construction company in Lafayette, LA. Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 (based on experience)

Schedule: 1st Shift | Full-Time | Direct Hire

What You'll Be Doing:

• Monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
• Track project costs and prepare monthly job cost reports
• Process subcontractor invoices, change orders, and progress billings
• Collaborate with project managers on budget revisions and cost-to-complete estimates
• Set up new projects in the accounting system (including billing terms and codes)
• Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding project payments
• Prepare and analyze project-specific financial statements
• Support monthly close process with variance analysis
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and industry regulations
• Maintain documentation for audits and contractual requirements

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or engineering
• Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and AIA billing
• Experience with construction software (Sage, Procore, Foundations, Viewpoint) is a plus
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
