About the Role

Woodside is recruiting for a Principal Tax Advisor role supporting US direct tax. This role will join a highly collaborative team, assisting and supporting tax leadership, including working with and coaching other tax team members. This role will lead and manage the delivery of tax advice and execution of tax processes in assigned areas to provide best practice service and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.

This includes providing technical, quantitative, and implementation support for projects inclusive of coordination with internal stakeholders. It also includes engagement with external advisors for review of technical and procedural issues and strategies as required.

Duties & Responsibilities




  • Review US tax provision computations in accordance with IFRS guidelines (taxable income computation, deferred roll forward, ETR, UTPs, etc.).
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of partnership and corporate income tax returns (Form 1065, K-1, 1120 etc.), and ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws.
  • Review new US tax legislation and develop plans to implement any new tax rules and requirements.
  • Coordinate and review the development of tax positions and advice that are accurate and optimally beneficial to the Company.
  • Manage US direct tax controversies work as it arises.
  • Accountable for development of relationships with commercial, legal, accounting and other group functions.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant business stakeholders to ensure tax is aware of new business developments.
  • Provide tax support for growth and M&A activities, including business entry analysis and implementation.
  • Manages nominated service provider capability, service delivery and relationships, ensuring value and quality.



Skills & Experiences




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, master's degree in taxation and CPA is preferred.
  • 15+ years of corporate tax experience in a CPA firm and/or major corporation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Robust federal and state compliance knowledge, and strong research skills.
  • Partnership tax experience.
  • IAS 12 or ASC 740 experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and tax related software such as OneSource.
