The Ultra Supply Chain function manages the processes associated with Indirect and Direct Procurement of goods and materials required to meet the operational demands of the business and the logistics of ensuring that materials are available for operations, and the completed products/services are delivered to the customer.

Nationality Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns all aspect of the purchasing processes as defined in internal procedures including supplier development, internal processes, and supplier performance
  • Responsible for all activities performed by the purchasing team to ensure compliance with business needs
  • Responsible to delegate sub processes and tasks to purchasing team and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables of delegated items
  • Develops and manages all aspects of the procurement of direct materials and indirect supplies.
  • Monitor KPIs to formulate baseline objectives for efficacy and achievable goals for the purchasing team
  • Leads strategically critical projects that bring exceptional value to the company through total cost reduction, key supplier relationships, commodity focus, supplier consolidation, cost/benefit financial analysis, and supplier quality management.
  • Ensures compliance with government and appropriate corporate policies and procedures for purchasing/subcontract activities including compliance review and small business plans
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure departmental effectiveness and compliance.
  • Obtains purchasing specifications for programs based on functional requirements.
  • Owns processes and reports that determine purchase requirements; Monitoring of generated, acknowledged, and rescheduled purchase orders for sourced goods
  • Prepares required reports; provides detailed analysis of purchased goods.
  • Monitors inventory position against sales forecast and customer orders to maintain acceptable safety stock levels as needed
  • Maintains vendor evaluation program and reports on on-time delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints.
  • Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops purchasing department staff; manages schedules and workflow.
  • Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably required by Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision of Purchasing team

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or applicable experience
  • 5+ years working for a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in Purchasing
  • Ability to function in a multi-disciplinary environment supporting different purchasing workflows
  • This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in direct procurement in a regulated environment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
  • Ability to interpret and negotiate contracts.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, ERP and MRP Systems.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to liaise with both internal and external customers and key stakeholders.
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload, with the ability to identify priority tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills - proficient in Excel and reporting software.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.
  • Strong MS Office skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for an extending period
  • Able to type
  • Be able to lift 20lbs

Expected Compensation:

The expected compensation for this role is between $90,000 - $100,000 annually. Please note, this is the expected compensation however, Ultra Maritime considers many factors in determining compensation prior to offer, such as: responsibilities and scope of role, candidate's work experience and education related to position, applicable certifications or trainings, business and market conditions.
