Primary Responsibilities

HDR's Water/Wastewater Engineer will: create detailed designs of water and wastewater treatment systems and collection systems under instruction from the Project Engineer; prepare plans for water and wastewater systems; write specifications, analysis, and study-level reports for water and wastewater treatment distribution and collection systems; determine appropriate design methods, equipment sizing and selection, working directly with the owner; perform hydraulic calculations; prepare cost estimates; process mechanical layouts; coordinate process mechanical design with other disciplines (electrical, civil, instrumentation); lead construction progress meetings and provide construction support services; perform field support services, coordinating with support disciplines and vendors; and conduct quality control reviews of completed designs.

Required Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 2 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 5 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Required experience may include professional, internship, or research experience and must include experience in: wastewater treatment facility design; water quality analysis; AutoCAD Civil 3D; ArcGIS; BioWin; and MS Excel.
  • Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
