Overview
The Vice President and General Manager of Oticon Independent is a critical leadership position responsible for shaping and executing the commercial strategy to drive overall business performance. This role carries full accountability for leading the entire commercial organization, including direct and indirect reports across Sales, Business Development, Commercial Excellence, and market-facing initiatives. As the senior commercial leader for the Independent channel, the VP/GM defines the strategic direction, ensures the achievement of sales and growth targets, and fosters a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, customer centricity, and continuous improvement. The VP/GM will lead strong cross-functional collaboration with key departments such as Global Functions, Marketing, Learning & Development, Audiology, Customer Experience, Finance, Human Resources, and Operations. Serving as the critical link between commercial execution and broader corporate strategy, the VP/GM translates strategic objectives into actionable plans that deliver sustainable growth, innovation, and market leadership.
Responsibilities
- Leads all commercial functions including Sales, Business Development, Commercial Excellence and Marketing execution, with full accountability for revenue growth, market share expansion, and achievement of national sales targets.
- Develops and manages the annual sales forecast and budget, ensuring financial discipline while driving growth through data-driven decisions and proactive and insightful market strategies.
- Builds and leads a high-performance team, overseeing talent acquisition, performance management, coaching, and capability development across the sales organization.
- Strengthens national customer relationships through direct engagement, using insights to shape strategy, identify growth opportunities, and influence market direction.
- Oversees the creation and implementation of strategic initiatives including territory planning, partner development, promotional programs, and customer engagement strategies across all areas of the channel.
- Monitors and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure accountability, track commercial effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
- Partners with Marketing deliver compelling product messaging, successful launches, and effective promotional plans tailored to customer needs.
- Stays ahead of competitive trends and market dynamics, translating insights into actionable strategies that support business agility and long-term success.
- Contributes to global initiatives within the Demant organization, sharing best practices and aligning local execution with international objectives.
- Serves as the external face of the business, consistently reinforcing brand differentiation and business direction to customers and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive, successful sales leadership experience, with a strong track record of delivering profitable growth.
- Experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
- Strong financial acumen, with proven ability to build accurate sales forecasts and drive business impact.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, with strong leadership both in a global environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to executive audiences and large groups.
- Broad business perspective with the ability to contribute to company-wide planning and decision-making.
- Deep understanding of core commercial processes including lead generation, sales strategy, Customer Relationship Management (CRM systems), and performance reporting.
- Ability to travel up to 60%.
