The Loan Review Specialist has responsibility for advancing Nicolet's internal loan review function by independently and objectively assessing the quality and collectability of Nicolet's credit portfolio. The Loan Review Specialist will sample, investigate, and examine individual credits or segments of the portfolio to minimize financial loss to Nicolet.

As a Loan Review Specialist, you will:


  • Perform an independent review of assigned credit files, including additional investigation when warranted, to ensure that the risk grading assigned by the loan officer and the credit underwriting procedure was (and continues to be) reasonable. The Loan Review Specialist's review may include, but is not limited to, the consideration of factors such as the Borrower's current loan repayment ability, the appropriateness of loan structure, and other extenuating circumstances identified by the Loan Review Specialist.
  • Assign an alternative risk grading, when appropriate in the Loan Review Specialist's independent judgment and discretion to do so and communicate those findings to the appropriate loan officer and the Loan Review Manager.
  • Report any non-compliance with Nicolet's loan policy or procedures to the appropriate loan officer and Loan Review Manager including, but not limited to, incomplete security documentation or poor quality of credit administration.
  • Prepare Portfolio Monitoring Reports to the Loan Review Manager and to outside auditors explaining and supporting the Loan Review Specialist's findings during file review.
  • Build and maintain relationships with commercial loan officers.
  • Make recommendations for loan process or policy changes to the Loan Review Manager.
  • Uphold Nicolet's philosophy and policies by maintaining appropriate controls to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, thereby fulfilling legal responsibilities and enhancing the quality of services provided by Nicolet.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • High School Education. Preferred associate degree or bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration or Related Field
  • 1+ years in loan review or comparable experience in credit risk management.
  • Thorough knowledge of lending laws and regulations
  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills
  • Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Ability to create reports of review findings.
  • Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of lenders, managers, directors and/or regulatory officials.
  • Strong integrity in all areas, adhering to policies, regulations, and utmost ethical and legal standards.
  • Uphold confidentiality and privacy of findings in all situations.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
