Job Description

The May Laboratory is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher for NIH-funded projects focused on understanding how RNA viruses impact cellular dynamics during infection. We utilize simple plant viruses from the Tombusiviridae family and the model host Arabidopsis thaliana to explore virus-host interactions. Our research integrates traditional virological assays with high-throughput sequencing approaches for better understanding gene expression and translation patterns during infection.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong skills in experimental design, critical thinking, and both written and oral communication. Preferred qualifications include experience with either Illumina or Nanopore sequencing platforms and data analysis. Opportunities for developing independent research projects will be provided to support career advancement.

This is a 12-month, full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position.
