Position: Intern, Payor Strategies
Shift: Day shift. Hybrid. 40 hours a week.

The Payor Strategies Intern will support a variety of Payor Strategies projects, including implementation and memorialization of key payor contracts across the system to ensure arrangements are accurately documented and consistently communicated with MLH's strategic stakeholders. The Intern will assist the Payor Strategies Managers with providing support to Patient Access, Patient Accounting, Revenue Integrity, Financial Counseling, Care Coordination and Finance to ensure the proper implementation of payor contracts and reimbursement terms for all MLG entities. This position also provides analytical support to the Payor Strategies team for the preparation, negotiation, settlement and management of payor contracts, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Accountabilities:



  • Assist in the implementation and oversite of payer contract information, with particular attention paid to language alignment to ensure high performance in reimbursement, pre-certification, and utilization management.
  • Participate in educational forums and webinars to broaden knowledge of changing regulations and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Provide support with date/financial analysis to be utilized in the management of payer contracts and the resolution of payer issues.
  • Conduct hospital, physician, and ancillary analyses and other project assignments as required.
  • Responsible for collecting, trending, and reporting of information related to third party payer contracts.
  • Support Payor Strategies team with tasks related to external payer Joint Operation Committee meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Primary Customers or Key Working Relationships:

Vice President, Payor Strategies, Finance, Revenue Integrity, Patient Accounting and Patient Access, Third party Payer, mid-level plan representatives, Main Line HealthCare Management, External Vendors and/or Consultants, as applicable.

Experience
1. Proficient use of PC-based applications such as Windows, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Relational Databases (i.e. MS Access, SQL, Oracle).
2. Ability to organize data in a meaningful way preferred.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education:
Undergraduate or Graduate student, currently pursuing a legal, business, or healthcare administration degree.
