Senior Estimator

The Role

Joining Balfour Beatty as a Senior Estimator you will play a pivotal role in our preconstruction team, responsible for generating accurate cost estimates and budgets for complex commercial and civil projects valued at $10 million and above. You'll work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and internal teams to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and competitiveness.

Essential Functions

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and budgets for commercial construction projects from conceptual to final bid stage.
• Ability to prepare entire estimate including all trades and mark ups, Clarifications, Value Engineering, Alternates, etc.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for completeness, compliance, and competitiveness.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide value engineering recommendations.
• Collaborate with project management and business development teams on proposals and presentations.
• Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and industry trends.

What you will need

• Minimum 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, with a strong track record on projects $10M+.
• MEP or Civil estimating experience is highly desirable.
• Proven knowledge of Carolina's subcontractors and pricing.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Proficient in estimating software (Destini Estimating, On Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam studio.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
