Role Summary

The Senior Manager for Specialty Hair Care (SHC) will provide leadership and technical guidance to a product development team focusing on science-based products delivering on our global innovation initiatives with consumer-centric solutions. They would drive the regional expansion of Batiste and Nair Wax, as well as be responsible for leading the SHC Product Development team in driving global brands Viviscal, Nair Depilatories, and Toppik.

This leader will manage high organizational complexity, multicategory-decisions making, and cross functional alignment while shaping innovation pipelines in partnership with cross-functional partners.

Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Direct consumer-centric design and development of CHD products within the defined costing model, launch requirements, and supply chain parameters.
  • Lead an R&D team, providing guidance and project prioritization to deliver highly incremental innovation and regional expansion of key global and regional products.
  • Ensure Operational and Supply Continuity for locally produced global and regional brands, overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects ensure business growth and compliance.
  • Manage complex projects with independence and other tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate with senior management to define and prioritize goals & objectives.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills to work closely with internal global R&D teams, GNPI, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory, Quality, Consumer Experience team, Fragrance and Flavor team, Open innovation, Procurement, Operations, Finance and Project Management teams.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to deliver global initiatives, including communicating technology and new product Provide Product Development consumer and technical leadership and expertise, driving robust global development pipeline, identifying emerging trends, and implementing innovative capabilities, technologies, and tools to enhance project results.

Education and Experience

  • 12+ years of R&D, PD, Formulation experience
  • BS from an accredited institution in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Biological Science. or PhD with 8+ years of experience.
  • Well versed in all aspects of Product and Formula Development (textures, ingredients, safety testing, clinical and consumer testing, stability/instability, processing, and commercialization. )
  • 7+ years experience leading and managing high performing teams

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop, organize and prioritize tasks within assigned projects and work with supervisor to manage assigned projects.
  • Ability to work on multiple, concurrent projects without manager oversight. Possess strong organizational, work planning, and problem-solving skills. Understand SBU business environment and make positively impactful decisions to project teams.
  • Ability to manage large workload at times and to adapt to reprioritization as necessary in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment involving marketing, processing, packaging, analytical, safety and clinical regulatory, etc.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent oral and written skills
