Responsibilities

The Collections Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing and influencing department activities and delivery of Business Services while maintaining continuous quality improvement. The Supervisor maintains operations within budgetary parameters. Effectively interacts with patients, patients' family, and health team members, while maintaining standards of professional business service. The Business Office Collections Supervisor is accountable to the Business Office Director/Manager for the day-today management of personnel, including staffing, time-keeping, employee evaluation and counseling, education and interview and selection of staff within established hospital guidelines.



Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires).
  2. One to two years experience as a Collections Supervisor Office preferred.
  3. Preferred Skills and Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate understanding of and ability to interpret third party payer principles and terms and COBRA laws. Strong organizational skills required for effective communication with patients, physicians, public, staff and administrations. Must be able to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  4. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  5. Well versed in collection laws, regulations and state codes relative to collections.
  6. Working knowledge of computer systems, equipment and processes commonly performed within the Business Office area.
  7. Knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Medicare, Medical, HMO/PPO, Commercial and W/C Billing & Collections.
  8. Effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
  10. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Customer Services experience required

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $22.00 to $31.77. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
