Summary: Under the leadership of the Chief of Bariatric Surgery the Bariatric Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the planning direction and operations of the bariatric surgery program. This role ensures efficient day-to-day management drives continuous quality improvement and assists in maintaining accreditation through compliance with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) guidelines and standards. The coordinator acts as a liaison between multidisciplinary teams and provides oversight for patient education staff training and community outreach. Responsibilities: Stay current with accrediting agency standards and serve as the liaison to ensure organizational compliance. Collaborate with operating room leadership Administrative Director of Surgery and VP of Operations to achieve and maintain accreditation standards. Oversee maintenance and accuracy of patient data and program databases for tracking progress and reporting to accrediting agencies. Work closely with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) to ensure timely submission of outcomes data. Implement and monitor quality improvement plans to promote continuous enhancement of patient care. Coordinate with the weight control team * including nutrition medicine and other disciplines - to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care. Collaborate with leadership to ensure efficient operation of the bariatric clinics and delivery of high-quality outpatient and operative care. Ensure appropriate staffing and coverage of all bariatric functions. Maintain appropriate facilities and equipment to support safe and effective bariatric surgery. Address and resolve patient complaints related to bariatric services. Perform other duties as assigned. Other information: EDUCATION: Candidate must possess current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Dietician (RD) in accordance with state regulatory requirements. EXPERIENCE: Requires at least three years of clinical experience in surgical nursing or dietetics within inpatient and outpatient care; prior bariatric experience preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: May serve as a point of reference and provide guidance to colleagues with the department. Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
