Overview As a Nurse Supervisor, you'll be responsible for providing leadership to clinical and non-clinical staff members, and ensuring quality patient care, environmental milieu, therapy and activity programs, nutrition, and patient comfort. Specific responsibilities of the Nurse Supervisor will include: Monitoring and providing support for a safe and therapeutic environment facility wide during assigned shift Providing feedback and ensuring staff accountability for all aspects of care, including documentation to meet facility and regulatory standards Supervise nursing staff in all aspects of duties and may direct non-nursing staff Ensuring adherence to professional standards, licensure, certification, state and department rules, regulations, policies, procedures and clinical skills Providing guidance for resolution of minor discipline issues, employee environmental concerns, and maintaining effective employee working relationships Advocating for resources necessary for patient care or those necessary to support work of the Who May Apply This position, Nurse Supervisor (Job Requisition #52698), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors Duties primarily performed in a clinical and office setting. Work may require travel off-site. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, potentially physically and verbally violent patient population and other stressful situations may occur. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends and extended shifts as the need arises. Minimum Qualifications Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the State of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience in the nursing specialty INCLUDING one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team. NOTE: Must maintain Vermont or multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Specialty Areas: Psychiatric Geriatric Pediatric/Adolescent Special Requirements Overtime work is required to maintain minimum staffing levels and for unannounced regulatory inspections and is considered a condition of employment. The ability to work overtime when required is an essential function of this job class.
