THE POSITION

The Department of Land Use and Transportation is recruiting for a Senior Accounting Assistant position within the Administrative Division!
The Position This position will perform accounting work of a complex nature including general accounting support to department and divisional needs. The Administrative Services/Office of the Director division provides leadership, management, strategic planning, policy development, operational analysis and support for all department services; coordinates public information, communication and media relations; and provides business support, including budget development and control, cost accounting, purchasing, personnel and payroll activities, grant administration and liaison services.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this Senior Accounting Assistant position would be able to work independently and within a small team environment. The successful candidate should have experience with general accounting principles, including, accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, correcting accounting errors, and maintaining financial records, ledgers and balance sheets. Knowledge of project accounting and basic cost allocation, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are strongly desired.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Possession of an Associate's Degree in accounting, business, or related field AND two (2) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Accounting Certificate (12 months) AND three (3) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management; OR
- Five (5) or more years of work experience related to accounting, bookkeeping, or fiscal management.

Selection Process

- Panel Interview(s): Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that meet the minimum qualifications and pass the SME review as soon as possible.
