About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Client Development to join our team. This strategic leadership role will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new client opportunities across various industries in both existing and new markets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of establishing and building relationships with clients across the US as well as generating new project opportunities for our firm's consultants. Overall, the Director of Client Development plays a crucial role in driving business growth by fostering strong client relationships and developing strategies to attract and retain clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Acquisition & Relationship Building
    1. Identify, target, and pursue new clients across a range of industries.
    2. Develop and implement strategies to expand the firm's client base in existing and new markets.
    3. Establish, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with clients across the US.
  • Market Expansion & Opportunity Generation:
    1. Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for growth in new and existing markets.
    2. Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet client needs.
    3. Generate new project opportunities for the firm's consultants.
  • Strategic Leadership & Collaboration:
    1. Lead business development initiatives in alignment with ESi's business development team and drive the firm's growth strategy.
    2. Collaborate with senior leadership to align client development strategies with the firm's goals.
    3. Collaborate with consultant's where appropriate to evaluate and enter new market segments and geographies and develop new service offerings.
  • Sales & Revenue Growth:
    1. Achieve and exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
    2. Create digital, learning and public content for lead generation.
    3. Develop and present proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals with clients.
    4. Monitor and report on sales performance and market trends

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, business, or a related field
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or client relations within the engineering or scientific consulting industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully identifying and securing new clients and project opportunities.
  • Strong network of industry contacts in the US and UK.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Other Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Ability to do client research with online tools and CRM. Windows Operating System, Mac OS, and mobile OS experience highly preferred.
