Lead the Charge in Patient Flow Excellence. Transform How We Care.

At University Health (UH), we're redefining how healthcare systems work - and that starts with smarter, more efficient patient movement. We're seeking a Patient Throughput Optimization Leader who thrives on fast-paced challenges and can transform data, strategy, and collaboration into real-time solutions that improve patient care and operational flow.

In this pivotal leadership role, you'll proactively manage all patient admissions, discharges, and transfers across UH's three campuses (Health Sciences District, Lakewood, and Behavioral Health), while also ensuring nursing staffing resources are aligned and effective for every shift.

What You'll Do:
  • Direct and oversee patient throughput to ensure timely, appropriate placement and discharge.

  • Lead and optimize hospital-wide bed management meetings.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (nursing, admissions, finance, IT, etc.) to drive collaboration and remove bottlenecks.

  • Monitor and interpret system data and trends to anticipate and resolve patient flow barriers.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance, policy adherence, and uphold the highest standards of patient-centered care.

  • Utilize technology platforms and data systems to inform decisions and produce actionable reports.

  • Support financial stewardship through efficient resource utilization.

Minimum Requirements:
  • BSN and active RN licensure.

  • 2+ years of experience in acute care nursing.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Proven record of excellence in interdisciplinary teamwork and customer service.

  • Skilled in electronic communication, multitasking, and strategic thinking.

  • Deep knowledge of UH's patient care resources.

  • Experience in utilization management and patient throughput.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MSN or advanced nursing degree.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience.

  • Previous involvement in patient flow operations or process improvement.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent in performance improvement methodologies.

Why Join University Health?

At UH, we don't just care for patients - we care for the caregivers. Join a mission-driven organization that puts people first, values innovation, and champions a culture of collaboration, equity, and excellence. You'll have the tools, team, and trust to make a meaningful impact on patients and the healthcare system at large.
