Asset Rationalization & Safety Enhancement in Aerospace Manufacturing

This 12-month internship offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to work on a high-impact cross-functional project within a world-class aerospace manufacturing facility. The successful intern will support a strategic initiative focused on aligning asset data across multiple systems, improving equipment identification and traceability, and enhancing workplace safety through comprehensive Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) compliance and risk assessment integration.

1. Asset Register Rationalization

• Audit and align the Finance Asset Register (Sage), CMMS Equipment Register (Maintenance Connection), and LOTO Asset List (Brady).
• Identify and resolve inconsistencies, duplications, and missing entries.
• Develop and implement a common asset numbering system to ensure consistent read-across between systems.

2. QR Code System Design & Implementation

• Design a robust, user-friendly QR code tagging system for critical equipment.
• Ensure each QR code links to:
  
  
  
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM) instructions
  • LOTO procedure
  • Asset technical information
  • Machine-specific risk assessment
  • Deploy QR codes across the top 100 priority pieces of equipment.
  
  
  
  

3. LOTO Compliance & Risk Assessment Support:

• Work closely with the EH&S team to:
  
  
  
  • Identify equipment missing LOTO procedures (~100 items).
  • Support the creation and validation of missing LOTO documents.
  • Ensure LOTO documentation is linked to corresponding equipment and accessible via QR code.
  • Verify machine-specific risk assessments are complete, up to date, and tied to each asset.
  
  
  
  

4. Equipment Criticality Review & PM Coverage:

• Collaborate with Maintenance and Reliability Engineering to:
  
  
  
  • Categorize equipment by criticality using Eisenhower Matrix (High, Medium, Low).
  • Validate and ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules are in place for all High and Medium priority assets.
  • Expand PM coverage to Low priority assets if time allows.
  
  
  
  

• Exposure to real-world challenges in aerospace manufacturing and asset lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise systems (Sage, CMMS, Brady LOTO).
• Insight into safety systems (LOTO, risk assessments, regulatory compliance).
• Practical experience with digital transformation through QR implementation.
• Development of project management, data auditing, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Currently in final year of school or within 1 year of graduating with Bachelor's degree or greater in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Systems), Data Analytics, or a related technical field.
• Currently holds3.0 GPA or higher.
• Available to work 30+ hours per week.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of handling large datasets.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams.
• US Person per ITAR regulations and able to comply with export compliance requirements.

• Familiarity with asset management systems or maintenance planning.
• Understanding of health & safety standards (e.g. LOTO procedures, risk assessments).
• Interest or coursework in reliability engineering, digital transformation, or industrial safety.
• Basic experience with QR code platforms or mobile-linked documentation tools.

Compensation: $25.00/hr
