Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Logistics Services Senior Manager to work on our Logistics team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every Friday off.

Position Summary: Manage, and coordinate with collaboration. Develop and establish operational policies within the area managed. May participate in strategy development for corporate functions. Requires detailed functional expertise and broad company knowledge.

Responsibilities Include:



  • Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and professionals. Provide guidance to your team within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influence methods and techniques.
  • Execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce planning. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
  • Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.
  • Receive objective-based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Responsible for a single function, location, and technical discipline.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect the department or multiple disciplines.
  • Help develop overall goals and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.
  • Work with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.
  • Partner with main contacts outside own area of expertise and other external partners.
  • Communicate results and recommendations across disciplines.
  • Third level of management with human resource responsibilities. Typically, all work is performed through the management of others.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of related experience OR High School diploma/GED with 16 years of related experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of hazardous material (HAZMAT) shipping preferred, including classification, packaging, and document preparation.
  • Related experience includes technical knowledge of hazardous material packaging and transportation, with extensive understanding of applicable codes and standards.
  • Certifications and/or training preferred with 49 CFR (including special permits), NRC (such as licensing, CoCs, etc.), International Air Transportation Association (IATA), Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV), DOE Orders (series 600).
  • Experience maintaining subcontracts and managing subcontractors.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.


Preferred Experience:



  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role preferred, including expertise managing and overseeing a shipping and receiving organization or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of logistics and warehousing experience preferred.


Job Information:



  • The pay range for this position is $105,516 - $269,052. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
