UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of UT Health East Texas, has 432 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

We have an exciting opportunity to join UT Health Tyler as a Director, Finance.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Finance is responsible for the preparation, coordination, and documentation of financial analysis projects in areas such as budget, forecasts, and financial and operational performance. Will assist the department as necessary in a wide array of activities.


Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain accurate accounting records using available information in order to properly state the financial position of entities of significant size, complexity, and activity.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly and annual analyses and reviews using generally accepted accounting principles to verify that the activities of the accounting department are being recorded correctly.
  • Assist hospital CFO and departments to analyze cost and profitability of current and potential service lines. Assist with the setting of benchmarks and tracking of performance at a facility and department level.
  • Perform audits of processes and procedures for potential issues and develop recommendations for their improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of forecasting models. Perform related responsibilities as required, including ad hoc analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Lead monthly Departmental Operating Review (DOR) meetings and provide feedback and recommendations for revenue enhancement, cost savings, and follow-up on issues identified.
  • Coordinate with CFO and other organization leaders on preparation and management of Capital Expenditure Requests (CER's), related Capital Budget tracking, and preparation of related service proforma models.
  • Coordinate with Regional Finance/Accounting to ensure timely month-end close process and related reporting, including preparation of facilities' Monthly Operating Review (MOR) reports.
  • Assist CFO in managing Regional shared services relationships including Regional Finance, Regional Revenue Cycle, Regional IT/IS, etc., including monitoring shared services performance.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • 7+ years experience in an accounting environment
  • Experience with multiple GL Packages and Business Intelligence software a plus
  • Healthcare experience a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
