Under the direction of Dr. Torres-Ayuso, Principal Investigator, the Assistant Scientist provides technical support by performing scientific experiments. The Assistant Scientist maintains record of data and may be involved in training undergraduate and medical students in research methods and procedures routinely used in the lab. Responsible for ordering laboratory material, maintaining a lab inventory, and assisting the principal investigator in maintaining laboratory data and equipment.

Responsibilities include:



  • Perform molecular and cellular biology experiments to validate novel protein kinases as targets in squamous cell carcinomas; these techniques include but are not limited to practice of sterile technique, cell culture, cell transfection, bacteria culture, bacteria transformation, DNA/RNA/protein isolation, PCR, immunoblot.
  • Maintain detailed records of all experiments and protocols per lab and university policies.
  • Oversee ordering laboratory material and assist the principal investigator in maintaining laboratory data and equipment.


Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree in life sciences and at least two years of related research experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekend hours, if needed.
