Department Summary The UNT TRIO Programs house the following TRIO Programs: Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services. All programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Education. The UNT Talent Search Program serves students in the Gainesville ISD for this position. Position Overview This position is for a college prep advisor who will be located in Gainesville, TX at Gainesville High School serving as the UNT Talent Search Advisor on a daily basis. The candidate will recruit and serve approximately 230 high school students assisting them with academic skill development and college/career exploration and choosing a course of postsecondary education. This is a TRIO Talent Search Program position. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in related field and one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent skills in connecting with students and providing individualized services for them. Ability to provide workshops to students, individually and in group settings. Leadership skills in working directly with a assistant student employee. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills. Preferred Qualifications Current experience with the Texas college admission and financial aid process. Will give preference to candidates with TRIO experience, either as staff or participant. Preference given to candidates familiar with the Gainesville community. Preference given to candidates with success or experience in overcoming barriers similar to the TRIO target population. Required License/Registration/Certifications Texas Drivers License Job Duties:
