We are seeking an Application Engineer based in the US to join our team. This role involves field application engineering, addressing customer inquiries, and specializing in sensor and module solutions. Additionally, the position includes developing new module solutions for humidity, conductivity, and flow measurement (both gases and liquids) from the concept phase through to serial production. What is the role about? This role at iST is responsible for working in a team on the further development of the Sensor Modules business and expand the application support for our valued customers in the US. You deal with both the application behavior of the sensors and the necessary manufacturing processes.You drive the development of new products, providing our customers with tailored solutions for their specific applications. Your work directly enhances the customer experience by delivering precise and technically robust products and solutions. You also promote iST's cutting-edge, engineered standard and customized solutions across various product groups, including temperature, flow, conductivity, humidity, micro-heaters, and bio products. What tasks will you perform?
- Lead the development of innovative module solutions for humidity, conductivity, and flow measurement (in gases and liquids) from concept through to mass production
- Provide field application engineering support, addressing customer inquiries and customizing sensor/module solutions to meet specific needs
- Serve as a technical resource for sales, recommending solutions and manufacturing approaches to ensure product performance and alignment with customer requirements
- Monitor, collaborate on, and prioritize ongoing development projects
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including requirements, specifications, testing methods, and results
- Design PCB layouts and develop prototypes for small-scale mechanical components
- Conduct qualification testing and calibration of sensor/module prototypes in accordance with R&D and project guidelines
- Develop readout software for testing and development tools
- Manage software and module updates throughout the product lifecycle via change management processes
- Additional duties as assigned
What do we expect form you? You will have (required):
- A master's degree in engineering or natural sciences (e.g., microsystem technology, physics, material sciences), or a bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of strong, proven experience
- A solution-oriented mindset with a proactive, hands-on approach and experience working in agile, team-based environments
- The ability to translate customer and business needs into technical solutions
- Travel required: up to 15%
- Must be able to legally work in the United States.
You will have (preferred):
- Expertise in measurement technologies, especially sensor & PCB design, calibration, and testing
- Experience with thermal mass flow, humidity, and conductivity measurement principles is a plus
- Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C#, and C++
- Experience developing software for sensors or components integrated into complex systems
- Knowledge of sensor/module integration, packaging, and mounting into various devices or applications is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, analytical mindset suited to a global team environment
