Job Title: Correctional/Nurse Practitioner - Region 6 ( Family or adult-gerontology nurse practitioner)

Location: Leavittsburg, OH 44430

Duration: At least 3 months

Hours/Week: 40 hours

Minimum Education Level: Master's Degree


Job Summary:

  • Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows.
  • Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions.
  • Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly.
  • Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate.
  • With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non-formulary medications as necessary Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO.
  • Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters.
  • Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance.

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • Licensure: Valid Ohio Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of NP experience in primary care.


Certifications:

  • CPR certification (Healthcare-professional level).
  • DEA Certification (if available).
  • ANCC Certification.
  • Ohio Medical License (attached separately).
  • US Passport or Naturalization card (if born outside the US).
