Job Title: Psychiatrist Location: St. Joseph, MO 64506 Duration: 6+ months to Long term Shift : 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Mon - Fri) Hours/Week: 40 hrs/week Job Duties: The psychiatrist will work with a Nurse Practitioner who helps with the case load. The admit and discharge rate is low. Typically 1-3 patients per month but then again some months there are no admissions. The expectation is a weekly note for the first 8 weeks after admission then a monthly note there after. Various duties including helping with guardianship if and when indicated. Providing comprehensive mental health care to adults, often with chronic and persistent mental disorders includes diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental illnesses, as well as assessing both the mental and physical aspects of patients' conditions. Medication management, treatment planning, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals. The candidate work with a team and cross coverage with other units at times may be indicated. Patients have been adjudicated PIST and a few NGRIs. Experience working in an inpatient forensic setting is helpful. Additional Information: We are an inpatient hospital (20 patients unit, 16 patients in a less restrictive, cottage setting). License and Certification: Doctor of Medicine.
