Overview
Astrion is looking for a Senior Space Systems Engineer to support our customer in El Segundo, CA. These positions support the USSF Space System's Command's (SSC's) Space Systems Integration office (SSIO) at Los Angeles AFB in El Segundo, California. This full-time position assists SSIO with integration of space system of systems capabilities and requirements across SSC space programs and in conjunction with USSF partners and stakeholders. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare briefings and technical reports
- Assist in collecting and collaborating key information between SSC PEOs and other SSC stakeholders
- Develop and refine requirements intake, adjudication and implementation processes that address numerous use cases from sponsoring organizations
- Develop and refine metrics for assessing process effectivity and requirements generation
- Provide support to the development of integrated architectures & requirements in collaboration with Space Warfighter Analysis Center (SWAC), Space Operations for Strategy and Resources Office (CSRO/S5R), and key stakeholders for Missile Warning/Missile Track (MW/MT), Position Navigation and Timing (PNT), Satellite Communications (SatCom), Space Based Environmental Monitoring (SBEM), Tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (TacISR), Launch/AATS, BMC3, C3BM, AATS - Battle Management Command Control and Communications, Command Control Communications and Battle Management and Assured Access to Space
- Identify capability gaps in space technologies and science and technology investments
- Support prioritization of SSC POM requirements in support of CSRO/S5R equities
- Support assessment of theater kill chains and assess contributions of space systems with the goal of identifying risks, issues and gaps
- Support the development of enterprise space systems requirements
- Identify and analyze enterprise requirements for space systems and technologies that facilitate/enable SSC and its partners to expand mission capabilities and/or close gaps across integrated space systems
- Review, develop and coordinate requirement statements and entry/exit criteria for Enterprise requirements with government project leads
- Assess policy derivatives of technical requirements
- Provide guidance with identifying solutions to problems affecting quantifiable parameters needed meeting mission requirements, sustainment requirements, and affordability.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience/working knowledge of AF acquisition lifecycle process
- Knowledge of JCIDs requirements practices
- Experience in space acquisition as military or as a contractor/DoD civilian
Required Experience:
- Must have a minimum of a BS in Physics, Engineering, Meteorology, Aeronomy, Earth Science, mathematics, operations analysis, business or a closely related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in positions that required scientific to practical application of technology components leading to quantitative results against user performance thresholds.
- Background and knowledge of Space Systems Command programs preferred SATCOM, PNT, Space and Terrestrial Weather, Missile Warning/Missile Tracking, Battle Management/C3, Ground and Network Segments, Space Superiority, or Tactical ISR).
- Must have an active and transferrable DoD TS/SCI security clearance with current investigation at the required level.
- Must be able to maintain a TS/SCI level clearance
