Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application. Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Responsibilities:

The School of Cinematic Arts at DePaul University invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track Professional Lecturer position in Screenwriting in one of the most innovative and fastest-growing film schools in the country. The School of Cinematic Arts offers a concentration in Screenwriting for our BFA students, as well as an MFA in Screenwriting.

DePaul University is located in the heart of Chicago's vibrant Loop and Lincoln Park communities. In 2024, the School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) was ranked 11th in The Hollywood Reporter's annual list of the top film schools in the country.

In SCA, there are currently over 2,000 students enrolled in the BA, BFA, BS, MS and MFA degree programs. The MFA degrees are in Film and Television Directing, Screenwriting, Creative Producing, Documentary, and Animation. Production resources include six full sound stages at Cinespace Studios, two green screen stages, production studios for motion capture, television, and sound, industry-standard camera packages, and a 4k digital cinema theatre.

Position begins in Fall Quarter 2025-26 (September 2025). Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in writing for film and television, committee service at the school and college level, supervising student projects, and continued professional development.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Record of professional practice and/or creative activity is required. Successful applicants will be able to teach theoretical and practical hands-on courses, will have industry and/or academic experience, and are motivated to work with faculty and students on building curriculum, leading school-wide initiatives, and/or participating on collaborative projects.


Minimum Qualifications:



  1. MFA degree or equivalent industry experience in film and/or television
  2. Exemplary communication and collaboration skills
  3. Able to demonstrate cultural competencies in diverse learning communities

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information: The salary range for this 10-month position is $82,000 - $90,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
