Tyler Coupling is seeking a proactive Health and Safety Manager to lead and enhance our safety culture. In this role, you'll engage with team members at all levels to promote safety awareness, ensure compliance, and drive continuous improvement. We're looking for a strong communicator who can build trust, encourage collaboration, and empower others to take ownership of a safe workplace.

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for managing safety programs, ensuring OSHA compliance, overseeing workers' compensation, and leading employee safety training. This position reports to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager and supervises a team of safety professionals.

Job Description
  1. Ensure safety compliance by leading on-site training, inspections, and audits; conducting hazard assessments and incident investigations; and implementing corrective actions. Develop and execute the annual Risk Reduction Plan to eliminate or reduce identified risks.
  2. Evaluate and track Tyler Coupling's internal safety monitoring program and provide support as well as feedback to production management as needed.
  3. Actively engage with team members through regular safety meetings, one-on-one discussions, and informal check-ins to promote safety awareness and practices.
  4. Conduct monthly trending analysis of near missing reporting, first aids and recordables to identify trending data and deliver information to all departments and shifts organization wide.
  5. Evaluate effectiveness and attendance of safety committees and subcommittees to ensure desired outcomes are being achieved.
  6. Manage Workers' Compensation Program. Manage the WC Administrator for self-insured/self-administered sites. Work with the TPA claims adjustor for claims. Manage and approve reserves for all claims and work with the Legal department to resolve and settle claims.
  7. Partner and collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance on all projects to ensure safety standards are developed into plans for conception. Attending engineering project meetings to review and approve project plans as applicable. Develop and implement electronic Management of Change for all projects and track action items to closure.
  8. Manage Contractor Safety Program to ensure all contractors meet company guidelines and assist contracts in gaining ISN approval or completing facility approval when required.
  9. Develop and implement Industrial Hygiene Sampling plan and ensure plan is conducted as required. Analyze data to ensure exposures are controlled or develop plans to eliminate or reduce exposures.
  10. Conduct engaging and interactive safety training sessions that encourage participation and feedback from team members.
  11. Manages staff, including providing coaching and training, setting goals, evaluating performance, planning staffing assignments and development, and making and approving people management decisions (e.g. recruitment, promotions, terminations, and salary changes).
  12. Facilitate open and transparent communication channels to ensure that safety concerns and suggestions are heard and addressed promptly.
  13. Develop strong, positive relationships with team members at all levels to foster a collaborative and supportive safety culture.
  14. Provide mentorship and support to team members, helping them understand and embrace their roles in maintaining a safe work environment.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety or related area of focus.
  2. At least 5 years of progressive experience.
  3. OSHA 501, GSP, ASP, CIH, CSP certifications preferred.
  4. Knowledge of State and Federal safety laws, rules, and regulations.
  5. Knowledge of Health and Safety computer software programs, such as Cority.
  6. MS Office Suite, PowerPoint, Excel, including pivot tables, computer-based safety.
  7. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, Worker's Compensation Code, NFPA, ANSI, ASTM, and NIOSH codes regulations.
