Asscociate Plant Engineer

Cabot Corporation has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Plant Engineer to support the Hopkinsville KY plant. This person will assist with the technical support and improvements in manufacturing process capability, capacity and productivity at the site(s) to ensure safe and optimal process utilization and/or scale-up. They will use best practice machinery-care principles, implements world-class equipment care procedures and processes changes to maximize plant safety and reliability. Their work may also focus on particular products/line/units, plant process/equipment Reliability and/or Process Safety Management.

* Supports the identification and implementation of improvements in plant performance to optimize product volume, yields and quality in accordance with business needs, whilst minimizing operating costs and maximizing unit safety and reliability.
* Gathers and evaluates appropriate data, utilizing statistical techniques, to improve process capability and/or identify root causes of problems, and implement improvement opportunities (commercial units and/ or scale-up).
* Provides prompt and effective technical advice and support to resolve unusual problems using root cause analysis.
* Supports and implements new product and process runs and prepares relevant documentation.
* Assists in the design, procurement, and installation of new equipment to support new product development and commercialization and existing process improvements.
* Ensures all product and process changes are implemented in line with appropriate Management of Change (MOC) principles. May participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) activities at the plant in coordination with regional PSM representative in the evaluation of manufacturing process-related risks and incidents.
* Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region.

* Technical knowledge of chemical process and product technology
* General knowledge and ability in statistical methods and tools, such as Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode Experimental Analysis, Statistical Process Control and others.
* Adept with equipment calibration and maintenance
* Ability to analyze and interpret data and draw well-reasoned conclusions.

* Bachelors degree in a relevant Engineering discipline such as Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
* 0 - 2 years of relevant experience
