The Opportunity:

Avantor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager Planning to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will deliver business results by leading and optimizing our production planning and scheduling processes to ensure efficient and timely manufacturing operations.

This role is a full-time on-site position at our Phillipsburg, NJ facility with travel <5%.

What we're looking for:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, Management or related field is required; MBA preferred.

Experience:

  • 15 years of experience in production planning and supply chain roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing small/medium size teams.

Additional Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain business practices, including both technical and operational aspects.
  • Exceptional communicator and leader, skilled at influencing teams and management, conducting meetings, and engaging with executives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and team leadership, adept at building cross-functional relationships, driving strategic direction, and organizational change.
  • Pragmatic approach, balancing execution speed with deliverable requirements.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, with robust problem-solving skills.

*Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Analytical and Excel skills
  • Significant experience using SAP MM and PP
  • Certification in APICS and/or Six Sigma

  • Develop and implement production plans that align with company goals and objectives, ensuring they meet strategic priorities.
  • Coordinate activities across various teams, including manufacturing, supply chain, and product management, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations and efficient resource allocation.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), providing feedback and adjusting as needed.
  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in the production process, implementing strategies to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize disruptions.
  • Lead and mentor the production planning team, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, track performance, and generate reports to inform decision-making.
  • Navigate and manage changes in production processes, technology, or external factors, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption.
