Department:Utility Services Department Organizational Unit:County Water and Wastewater Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $2,130.46 to $2,343.51 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Viera/South Central WWTP. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes standby, overtime, and holidays as needed. Performs skilled technical work supervising the maintenance and repairs to water, reclaimed water, and wastewater plants; lift stations; and distribution and collection systems in an assigned area of the County. Supervision is provided to utility maintenance staff. REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association (FW&PCOA),PLUS five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of water and/or wastewater treatment plants and/or collection and distribution systems, which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess or obtain, prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid FW&PCOA Wastewater Collection Technician Level C or higher license, an FW&PCOA Reclaimed Water Distribution Level C or higher license, or an FDEP Level III or higher Water Distribution license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment, a valid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. Must successfully complete all mandatory County training classes. Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include respiratory protection. Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime and standby duties, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
