Job Title: Operations Quality Engineer

Reports To: Director of Operations

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Engineer to join our operations team. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our products and processes, particularly within our operations and warehouse environments. This role will significantly impact our ability to maintain and improve our product quality, reduce operational inefficiencies, and enhance customer satisfaction.

What You Will Do

  • Quality Management System (QMS) and Maintenance:

    • Partner with the Trimble Corporate Quality Team to ensure that the Operations is in alignment with Trimble's corporate quality standards.

    • Partner with corporate quality to ensure the operations team is compliant with relevant industry standards (ex. ISO 9001, etc).

    • Conduct internal audits on the warehouse and assembly operations to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance.

    • Manage and control document control processes, including the creation, revision, and distribution of quality-related documentation, such as work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality control checklists.

    • Partner with the supplier quality team to ensure incoming material quality.

  • Process Improvement and Problem Solving:

    • Analyze operational and warehouse processes to identify quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

    • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to monitor process performance and identify trends.

    • Lead root cause analysis investigations (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys) to address quality deviations and prevent recurrence.

    • Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes and reduce waste.

  • Inspection and Testing:

    • Partner with SQE (supplier quality) and the incoming inspection team to ensure all inspections are smoothly handed off to the Operations team.

    • Ensure that all inspection and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.

    • Analyze inspection and test data to identify trends and potential quality issues.

  • Warehouse and Operational Support:

    • Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to optimize material handling, storage, and inventory control processes.

    • Optimize material handling processes for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, including efficient storage and retrieval systems.

    • Develop and implement quality control measures for warehouse activities, including receiving, shipping, and storage.

    • Provide quality-related training and support to warehouse and operations personnel.

    • Ensure proper process documentation and adherence to quality standards through all operational processes.

  • All other duties as may be assigned

What Skills & Experience You Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.

  • 5-10 years of experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably in the automotive or a similar manufacturing/logistics industry.

  • Proven experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 and/or related quality management systems.

  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving using 8D, 5 Whys, and other methodologies.

  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with warehouse and operational processes.

  • Strong documentation skills.

What Skills & Experience You Could Have

  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or other relevant certifications.
  • Experience with Oracle or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

  • Experience with PPAP and APQP processes.

  • Proficiency in quality management software or databases.

This compensation range is based on a full time schedule.
