Job Description:
Operates and maintains water treatment facilities and equipment. Perform field tests of treated water at sources and on distribution system. Monitors well site production and chemical distribution. Investigate water quality complaints. Maintain parts room and inventory of water treatment and testing equipment. Identify and delegate daily route and project assignments to Water Treatment Technicians. Prepare detailed reports of facility performance, customer interactions, and assigned projects. This is located in Gig Harbor, WA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operation and maintenance of chemical pumps and feed stations.
- Operation and maintenance of water quality analyzing equipment.
- Handling and transportation of hazardous materials.
- Test, repair, and maintain safety equipment.
- Monitor and record chlorine residuals throughout the distribution systems.
- Monitor and record overall operation and security of well sites.
- Operation and maintenance of water filtration systems.
- Installation and repair of water sampling stations.
- Operate motor vehicles.
- Support customer relations by responding to water quality complaints.
- Perform duties after hours / On Call when scheduled.
- Perform basic computer / smart phone functions.
- Operate fork lift.
- Schedule tasks for other personnel.
- Manage projects.
- Manage assets.
- Train and develop personnel.
- Performs work on-site in the assigned office location
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, and Experience guidelines:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid WA state driver's license.
- 5 years water distribution or treatment experience.
- Possess WDM 2 certification.
- Possess CCS certification.
- Possess WTPO 1 certification.
- Possess first aid certification.
- Possess forklift certification.
Knowledge of:
- Washington Water Service policies and procedures.
- Water systems operations and maintenance.
- Local, state and federal laws, codes and regulations regarding water treatment.
- PLC operations and functions.
- Basic electrical wiring and diagrams.
- Mathematical formulas relating to water treatment and distribution
- DOH reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Document management and storage systems.
- Wiring and site diagrams or plans.
Skill in:
- Interpersonal communication and leadership abilities.
- Troubleshooting mechanical failures.
- Providing efficient customer service and communications.
- Thoroughly carrying out written and oral instructions.
- Able to deliver written and oral instructions to other personnel.
- Using initiative, discretion, and judgement within established procedures guidelines and rules.
- Defining problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, and customers.
- Chlorine and pH analyzers functions, maintenance and operations.
- Operating a personal computer and various software applications.

- Analyzing and organizing data.
