The Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) serves the rehabilitation needs of the 1.4 million people in a 29-county region of eastern North Carolina and is located within
ECU Health Rehabilitation Center at
ECU Health Medical Center, with Spinal Cord, Traumatic Brain Injury, General Rehab, Pediatric Rehabilitation, and Neuro Rehab Units.
The Center's 75-bed inpatient unit is one of 18 Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs in NC that is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (
CARF). The Center is also one of the five centers of excellence at
ECU Health.
ECU Health Medical Center is a
JCAHO-accredited Level I Trauma center.
The
ECU Brody School of Medicine is partnered with
ECU Health Medical Center (formerly Vidant Medical Center).
ECU Health Medical Center is the flagship hospital for
ECU Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The
ECU Health system is also comprised of eight (8) other hospitals throughout eastern North Carolina |
Job Duties |
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University (
ECU) in Greenville, NC seeks a board certified/board eligible Pediatric Physiatrist to provide care on the inpatient
CARF-accredited rehabilitation unit, to provide rehab consult services, and to treat patients at the department's outpatient clinic The selected candidate may also provide services at
ECU Health's 78,000 square foot, state-of-the-art Maynard Children's Hospital. Located directly adjacent to PM&R's inpatient unit, the children's hospital houses 197 beds and bassinets and provides comprehensive pediatric care, including surgery, cardiology, nephrology, and urology, among many other services.
The candidate will participate in the training of residents, medical students, and other allied health students in a clinical setting. Research is supported and is a valued component of the position.
Fixed Term (12-month) or Tenure Track position available.
Employment in this position provides eligibility to participate in the
UNC Optional Retirement Program (
ORP) which offers matching employer contributions and employee control of investment choices, along with eligibility to participate in various Voluntary Supplemental Retirement Plans (401k, 403b. 457). This position is not eligible to participate in the NC Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (
TSERS). Additionally, this position offers multiple voluntary options for Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance as well as various supplemental plans including Critical Illness, Flexible Spending Accounts, Cancer, and Disability.

Minimum Education/Experience |
MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for
ECFMG Certification. Board certified/eligible Pediatric Physiatrist. |
