Job Summary:
This position manages the daily operations of the Engineering Services Department professional trades, including electricians, plumbers, HVAC, and power plant engineers. In conjunction with leadership, the Facilities Services Manager will assist in maintaining the highest degree of operational performance and customer satisfaction in Engineering Services by maintaining the building automation systems, computerized maintenance management systems, and other digital platforms within the MWHC engineering and construction departments and supported areas; as well as inventory management of fixed and movable equipment and its associated repair and replacement components.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the daily operations of the Engineering Services Department professional trades.
  • Contributes to the development, review, and revision of standards, procedures, and protocols.
  • Identifies activities within the building automation system that require response both internally and externally. Performs alarm analysis within the building automation system and coordinates response.
  • Schedules third party response to repair activities identified within the building automation system. Coordinates with the building automation systems vendors to refine system coverage and corrections to failed components.
  • Manages asset inventories for accuracy and creates maintenance tasks within the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manages and oversees the Preventative Maintenance Program, in accordance with Joint Commission regulations, which includes monitoring the timely and efficient return of work order requests and daily time sheets. Monitors periodic reports and analyses regarding progress or adverse trends. Administers appropriate action plan, as needed.
  • Auto-assigns preventative maintenance work orders, evaluates unassigned unscheduled work orders, and assigns them to appropriate engineering Associates.
  • Monitors digital Engineering systems for upgrades and coordinates implementation. Manages and verifies compliance with results and testing related to digital systems. Recommends improvements to existing systems and recommends replacements that will increase efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Oversees hiring, orientation, and training of new Associates. Provides counseling and oversight of assigned Associates as required by organizational operational goals. Conducts performance appraisals.
  • Manages various personnel functions including schedules, overtime, and special project needs.
  • Assists in the development and preparation of the departmental budget. Monitors and budgets the purchasing of plant and maintenance supplies.
  • Participates in Joint Commission preparation/readiness.
  • Serves as a quality assurance/liaison for all departments within the facility regarding service function, quality, and performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Technical training in equivalent supported systems and/or demonstrated competency related to the supported systems required.
  • Three years applicable work experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • CompTIA, AWS, Insight, or AHA CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager) preferred.
