We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Bishop Woods, WI team. You will apply professional engineering techniques to improve product design and manufacturability. The position will plan and coordinate engineering project activities to ensure project goals are accomplished within the approved timeframe, cost targets and project funding parameters. The Mechanical Engineer will aggressively manage engineering change projects by utilizing their strong mix of leadership, technical and soft skills. The Mechanical Engineer will foster a positive team environment that focuses on communication and collaboration with all other company functions - product management, marketing, operations, finance, supply chain, sales, quality, and customers.

You will:

  • Enhance performance, improve quality, improve features, and reduce cost of released components and systems.
  • Assist in the responsibilities for all aspects of the design including specifications, agency requirements, tolerance analysis, FMEA.
  • Develop and maintain technical and project documentation, including NPD process deliverables.
  • Lead projects and drive forward progress with strong sense of urgency, utilizing company product release and engineering change processes.
  • Develop project plans identifying schedules, specifications, risks, and contingency plans.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, and all other stakeholders to identify and prioritize critical project milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead regularly scheduled cross-functional project meetings.
  • Coordinate project activities with cross-functional team members to ensure project goals and requirements are met on schedule and within budget.
  • Continuously gather feedback from all project team members to track progress and mitigate risk.
  • Identify and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and daily task activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Pentair global design centers, manufacturing plants and strategic suppliers.

Key Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of engineering design experience in a high-volume production, product development environment with a focus on consumer products or appliances.
  • Project management experience required. Experience leading projects with minimal management direction.
  • Experience using engineering tools (FMEA's, DOE, DVP&R, RCCM, PLM, Risk Analysis, Statistics, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of product improvement process.
  • Experience in developing injection molded components and stamped metal parts preferred.
  • Manufacturing familiarity and be comfortable interfacing with all levels of a manufacturing organization.
  • Highly detail oriented, organized and organizationally agile individual.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Travel:

  • Need for regular travel to Pentair regional facilities in northern Illinois (< 20% travel)
  • Need for flexible domestic and international travel according to business necessity as responsibilities may require project oversight with other Pentair global facilities.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71000 - $131800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
