UC Irvine is one of only several institutions nationwide to be named a Level I Accredited Educational Institute by the American College of Surgeons.We offer fellowships and residencies in nearly every specialty, and our general surgery residency is one of the most competitive in the country. UC Irvine surgeons have pioneered several minimally invasive surgical approaches, including laparoscopic nephrectomy for kidney removal and endoscopic ultrasound - guided fine needle aspirations for gastrointestinal conditions. In addition, UC Irvine is renowned for delivering leading-edge training and education to surgeons throughout the nation. Your Role on the Team
The position of Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Surgery , requires a highly competent, independent yet team-oriented individual who will be immersed in Colon & Rectal Surgery and Gastrointestinal Surgery. Under the supervision of Division Chief and guided by the applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory or inpatient settings and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. A Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills and experience necessary to provide advanced nursing care in their area of specialization.

- Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- NP National Board Certification (Beginning February 2018): Adult Gerontology Acute Care AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG
- Additional NP National Board Certification: Not Applicable
- Current BLS certification.
- Within one year of hire, PALS.
- Educational training and/or experience to support setting and patient population.
Preferred:
- WOCN certification
- Knowledge of ePIC, Windows and MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, Quest, Access, Power point and Outlook).
- Familiarity with UC policies and procedures.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
Special Conditions:
- Ability to obtain UCIMC Allied Health Professional Privileges prior to hire.
