HX5 is currently seeking an Active Thermal Controls Project Engineer to join the team with NASA at Johnson Space Center (JSC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Active Thermal Controls Project Engineer will:
- Support the project in verification, testing and getting the hardware ready for flight delivery.
- Be able to support with TPSs creation
- Creating safety products relevant to hardware to show requirement compliance and mission needs
- Working with other project team members to ensure project requirements and deliverables are achieved
- Maintain a responsive and productive working relationship with SHREC project team
- Work in a team environment and report to project management to provide status on progress and issues related to support of the SHREC project
- Project Engineer will support the lead SHREC PE for task completions.
- Perform other duties as required
Education andExperience

- Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success
criteria - Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of Space system hardware.
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, JSC Electronic Document System and design software and tools
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
- Experience with NASA flight processes including Class I/II/III hardware
- Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
Preferences
- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of direct
engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of direct engineering
experience, or Ph.D. degree and zero (0) years direct engineering experience. - Previous experience in designing and building unique hardware
- Previous testing experience
- Familiarity with machine shop techniques and processing hardware through the manufacturing process.
- Ability to perform hands on test buildup, data processing, and documentation including test plans and reports
- Ability to work independently
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position and offers a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off).
Work Environment:
- Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
- Equipment and Machines - Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
