STV has an immediate need in the NYCarea for aConstruction Inspectorfor our Water/Wastewater division. The successful candidate will support our current staff while assisting in growing the W/WW Inspection practice to better service our clients in the NYC Metro area. This role offers unlimited opportunities to maintain existing client relationships, broaden STV's service offerings, be involved in construction of major water and wastewater infrastructure, mentor junior staff, all while promoting the culture of a healthy work-life balance. Job Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and performs inspections of water and wastewater infrastructure including but not limited to aqueducts, reservoirs, treatment plants, process equipment, shafts, excavations and earthworks, pump stations, water supply facilities, site drainage and stormwater piping, water main and sewer installation, utility coordination, electrical equipment, plumbing equipment, SCADA and controls.
- Conducts on-site inspections of construction installations, including but not limited to materials, equipment, grade elevations, above and underground facilities, construction safety precautions, concrete structures, erosion and siltation control installations to determine compliance with contract plans and specifications, and with governmental regulations.
- Reviews construction plans, specifications, permits, and other plans affecting assigned projects.
- Participates in meetings to discuss construction details and resolves issues with contractors and other project stakeholders.
- May make field measurements. May ensure conformance with applicable safety standards and regulations and QA requirements.
- Assists in coordinating materials testing. Identifies on-site project problems.
- Observes reports and alerts appropriate members of project team on non-conformance issues. Monitors the correction of project deficiencies.
- Identifies and recommends approval of necessary contract and/or plan adjustments to accommodate field conditions.
- Maintains daily diary and field records of material and quantities used.
- Produces daily inspection reports.
- Calculates and recommends appropriate progress payments to contractors for work completed.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Has a broad understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure and applicable laws, standards, and regulations.
- Ability to work on significant and unique issues and projects requiring collaboration with multiple levels of staff.
- Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Ability to coordinate among groups.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents.
- Periodically provide consultation and advice to management regarding matters of considerable importance to the functional area.
- Exercises judgment to independently determine methods and procedures for completing new or special assignments.
- Occasionally provides direct or indirect supervision to other personnel.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and use of proper PPE.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 8 years of water and wastewater inspection experience.
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification or 30-hour (preferred).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with computerized construction management software.
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
Compensation Range: $72,168.00 - $96,224.00
