Overview

The Associate Geospatial Production Lead supports daily operations within the Lidar Processing and Analysis team supporting Utilities and Pipeline Mapping practice within NV5 Geospatial. This role balances hands-on production with emerging leadership responsibilities, requiring a strong understanding of Lidar data processing workflows and quality control. This role requires a strong understanding of Lidar data processing workflows and quality control, along with the ability to guide team members, identify project risks, and support resource management. The Associate Lead contributes to smooth, efficient production while promoting continuous team growth, process improvement, and project delivery excellence.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

    Perform Lidar data processing, analysis, classification, and QA/QC tasks; independently manage assigned project workflows.
  • Standardize and maintain consistent Lidar processing and analysis workflows across projects.
  • Train and mentor team members on technical workflows, quality standards, and task management.
  • Support team supervision by tracking PTO, conducting 1-on-1s, and providing regular performance feedback.
  • Mentor junior task/technical leads in project monitoring, reporting, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training plans for new team members.
  • Track project progress and provide regular status updates to the production lead and project stakeholders.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate project risks; coordinate with subcontractors when needed.
  • Forecast and adjust team resources to meet project deadlines and delivery goals.
  • Recommend task leads and help define scopes of work for project components.
  • Support internal project kickoffs, retrospectives, and contribute to workflow/process improvements.
  • Maintain and enforce project standards to meet client specifications, quality benchmarks, and best practices.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Lidar production experience, with demonstrated task/technical leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of Lidar processing workflows, quality control, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience using project tracking and resource management tools.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting the development of team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Geography, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Lidar processing software and tools.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies and workflow optimization.
